4 popular tile trends for a timeless bathroom

I love tiles. When I go and look for tiles for a client, I always spend a lot of time just browsing all the fantastic colour, shapes and patterns.  But what are the most popular bathroom tiles in 2018?

White and grey tiles are popular for a timeless look in bathrooms

There is always a lot of choice in white tiles which are a timeless and safe choice when you are looking for an option that will last you a long time, and you won’t tire of them. Whether you like gloss, matte or a textured finish, you will always find a white tile to suit your style and space.

While white tiles are an excellent choice for walls, it isn’t so practical on the floor unless you love cleaning (hmmm, I certainly don’t know anyone who does!).  You can pair pure white tiles with any floor colour you like depending on the look you want.

For a light and airy look, you could try a beige or light grey for a timeless look.  If you want something a little more individual, you could try a bolder colour in a light tone or a patterned tile.

White wall tiles with grey floor tiles are popular and timeless

For a light and airy look, you could try a beige or light grey for a timeless look.  If you want something a little more individual, you could try a bolder colour in a light tone or a patterned tile.

Marble tiles are “the look” at the moment and have been for some time.  They will give you a timeless look as long as you love marble.  You can get them with very subtle veins through them if you like just a small amount of texture.  If you fancy a bold look, you may prefer the darker veining that really stands out.  You can do a whole bathroom in just one tile if you like or you might want to mix it up by using a solid colour on the floor.  Try picking a shade out of the marble tile and use this in your floor tiles.

Patterned tiles are a significant trend at the moment as well.  You are really spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting patterns.  The best thing about these is you can really create a unique space, one that suits your personality and style.

Patterns on the bathroom floor are on trend, and they will also hide all the dust and hair, which I think is a big bonus!  You can select from geometric shapes like hexagons or penny rounds which both look great.  You can also use a different coloured grout to accentuate the shapes.  You can mix patterns, using one on the floor and another on the wall.  If you are going to try this look, I would suggest you keep the tiles in a similar colour so that they relate to each other.

Patterned tiles can make a statement in small sections

You can also create a feature in the shower, around your mirror or just a row of patterned tiles if you want to introduce some pattern but don’t want to commit to a whole wall.

One trend I am loving at the moment is terrazzo.  I have seen some beautiful bathrooms using terrazzo floor tiles.  They make a statement all on their own, and you can pair them with a plain wall tile to make them the feature of the bathroom.

There are so many options you can use with tiles to create a unique space.  You can lay them in different patterns, use different coloured grout, have a feature wall of tiles the options are endless.

I could go on and on about tiles, but these are just some of the more timeless styles that will give you a contemporary looking bathroom that you will love for years to come.

So tell me in the comments what your favourite tile is at the moment and if you have any tips on how to create a unique look with tiles.
